In this article my trusty lady friend Claire and I made forays into 4 “hip” LA steak houses and here are the most important findings!

Go if you want to damage your ossicles!

The factor which immediately made STK our least favorite was how absolutely ridiculously loud the music is played in the restaurant. We are talking nightclub type music nightclub level loud. Even for a group of high energy young alpha guys having to purposely shout to each other throughout dinner got old.

BOA

Go for an overall solid experience at a trendy restaurant with a big price tag! The place is quiet enough to hear each other, and has that I’m a cool kid feel that will impress the ladies and dent your bank account.

The bar attracts women looking for men with big bank accounts. Duh.

Mastros

Don’t go to discuss sensitive business matters!

Master’s gets our nod simply for the quality of the steaks and food they serve. Absolutely outstanding. The downside of Mastro’s is that you are jammed like sardine’s in the restaurant and you will hear all your neighboring tables conversation whether you like it or not.

Oh and hey don’t forget the upstairs bar to meet ladies in the 30+ range.

Taylor’s

Taylor’s takes the #1 spot because the place is what a steakhouse should be, not too try hard, comfortable spacious booths, good all around food, no deafening music – and hey reasonable prices are cool too!
